On its own, an Indian passport gets you into 100 countries and territories without an embassy visit. If you already hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa, the list grows. A number of countries that normally want an embassy visa let you in visa-free, on arrival or with a quick online form instead.

At the time of writing, these are the extra destinations each document opens for Indian passport holders:

The live lists use the same data as our India passport page, so they change as soon as we confirm a rule change. Every rule below comes from a government or embassy source, listed at the end of this article.

Accepted with a US, UK or Schengen visa

These countries accept any of the three visas. Most also accept a residence permit or green card.

  • Mexico: visa-free up to 180 days. The visa must be a multiple-entry visitor visa (US B1/B2, UK visitor visa or Schengen C) valid for your whole stay. Tourism, business or transit only.
  • Peru: visa-free up to 180 days a year. Your visa must be valid for at least 6 more months on arrival. Permanent residence also counts.
  • Dominican Republic: visa-free. A valid US, UK or Schengen visa or residence permit is enough. Tourist card rules apply.
  • United Arab Emirates: visa on arrival. This rule is specific to Indian ordinary passports: a valid US visa or green card, or a valid UK or EU visa or residence permit.
  • Saudi Arabia: visa on arrival. The tourist or business visa must have been used at least once (you need an entry stamp from the country that issued it). Tourism only, not for Umrah or work.
  • Oman: visa-free for 14 days. India is in Oman's "Second Group", which gets this with a valid US, UK or Schengen visa or residence permit.
  • Taiwan: online Travel Authorization Certificate, 30 days. Your US, UK or Schengen visa or residence card may even have expired, as long as it was less than 10 years ago.
  • Serbia: visa-free up to 90 days in any 180. The visa must be valid for your whole stay. A UK residence permit is not on Serbia's list, but a UK visa is.
  • Montenegro: visa-free up to 30 days, and never beyond your visa's expiry date.
  • North Macedonia: visa-free up to 15 days. With a US or UK visa this is a temporary decision valid until 31 December 2026. The rule for a multiple-entry Schengen visa or an EU residence permit has no end date. The visa must stay valid at least 5 days beyond your stay.

Accepted with a US or Schengen visa, not a UK visa

  • Colombia: visa-free. Your US or Schengen visa must have more than 180 days of validity left on arrival. Colombia lists this for Indian nationals, but not for residence permits.
  • Belize: visa-free up to 30 days with a multiple-entry US or Schengen visa or a US green card. UK visas are not accepted.
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina: visa-free up to 30 days per stay (90 days in 180) with a multiple-entry US or Schengen visa, or a US or EU residence permit. UK visas are not accepted.

Accepted with a Schengen visa only

  • Cyprus: visa-free up to 90 days in 180 with a double- or multiple-entry Schengen C visa or a Schengen residence permit.
  • Kosovo: visa-free up to 15 days with a multiple-entry Schengen visa or a biometric Schengen residence permit.
  • Belarus: visa-free up to 30 days, under strict conditions. The multiple-entry Schengen visa must already have been used, you must enter and leave through Minsk National Airport (not from or to Russia), and you need a return ticket, medical insurance of at least EUR 10,000 and EUR 25 per day of your stay.
  • Andorra, Monaco and San Marino. These microstates have no visa of their own and are only reachable through the Schengen area. For Andorra, your Schengen visa must be double- or multiple-entry, because leaving Andorra means entering Schengen again.

Hold a US green card?

A US green card opens almost the same list as a US visa, plus Canada: US permanent residents need neither a Canadian visa nor an eTA. See the full list on the India passport page by switching the US chip to "Green card".

Before you book

  • Check the visa type. Many countries want a multiple-entry visa, and some want one that has already been used.
  • Check how long your visa stays valid. Peru and Colombia count months of validity left on arrival. Montenegro and North Macedonia limit your stay to your visa's validity.
  • Rules change. North Macedonia's US and UK visa rule ends on 31 December 2026 unless it is renewed. We will update this article when that happens.

Airlines check these conditions at boarding. Before you book, confirm with the destination's official immigration website or embassy.
