There is no direct flight from Morocco to Bali. Every trip has at least one connection, often in the Gulf, Istanbul or South-East Asia. You can turn that connection into a short stopover: book the trip in two parts and spend a night or two in the hub city before the last flight to Bali.

That only works if your passport lets you leave the airport. For Moroccan passport holders, some hubs are visa-free and others need a visa you probably don't have. This guide sorts them out.

Bali first: what you need for Indonesia

Bali is in Indonesia. Our data lists Indonesia as visa on arrival for Moroccan passports: you get the visa when you land, and a fee may apply. See Indonesia's visa rules and the full Morocco passport page.

Easy stopovers: Kuala Lumpur and Istanbul

Kuala Lumpur is the closest fit for the trip you have in mind. Malaysia is visa-free for Moroccans for up to 90 days, and Kuala Lumpur has many short regional flights to Bali. Two nights there cost you no paperwork.

Istanbul works the same way on the way out: Türkiye is visa-free for Moroccans for up to 90 days. It splits the trip earlier, so the second leg to Bali is the long one.

Possible with planning: Doha and Bangkok

Qatar needs an eVisa for Moroccan passports, applied for online before you travel. If you hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa or residence permit, the Hayya A3 route may apply instead (online application, passport valid 3+ months, hotel booking). See Morocco to Qatar. For a short visit during a layover, Visit Qatar also describes a transit visa for Qatar Airways passengers who stop at least 6 hours at Hamad International Airport: you apply at the Discover Qatar Transit Desk in the airport, and it is valid for up to 4 days. Just changing planes in Doha needs nothing: Hamad International Airport states that you do not need a transit visa if you are not leaving the airport.

Thailand no longer lets Moroccans in without a visa. Since 15 September 2026 you need a Thai e-Visa before you travel. Details in Thailand's new visa rules. Changing planes in Bangkok is different: at Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang you need no visa if you stay in the transit area for 12 hours or less and your bags are checked through to Bali. A longer layover, or separate tickets where you collect your own bags, needs a visa.

Stay airside: Dubai and Singapore

Both are common connections to Bali, and both are fine for changing planes. You don't need a transit visa while you stay in the transit area. Leaving the airport is another matter:

  • United Arab Emirates: Moroccans need a sponsored tourist visa to enter (Morocco to the UAE). To leave the airport on a layover, you need a pre-arranged 48- or 96-hour transit visa, sponsored by a UAE airline.
  • Singapore: Moroccans need a visa to enter (Morocco to Singapore). Airside transit at Changi is fine, but some low-cost airlines make you clear immigration to collect your bags or check in again. Singapore's entry rules then apply, so check with your airline before you book separate tickets through Singapore.

Going through Europe?

Few routes to Bali go via Europe, but if yours does: under the EU's 2026 lists, Romania is the only Schengen country where Moroccans need an airport transit visa to change planes. You don't need it with a valid Schengen visa or residence permit, a US visa or residence permit, or a UK residence permit.

How to book a stopover

  1. One ticket or two. Some airlines sell a stopover inside one ticket (a multi-city booking). Two separate tickets give you more choice, but if your first flight is late and you miss the second, the second airline owes you nothing. Leave a full night between the two flights.
  2. Compare before you split. A stopover is sometimes cheaper than one ticket to Bali, sometimes not. Search Morocco to Bali and the two legs separately, then compare the totals yourself.
  3. Expect onward-ticket checks. Visa-free entry usually means showing a ticket out of the country. Your Kuala Lumpur to Bali booking does that job.
  4. Your bags. On separate tickets you collect your bags and check in again, so you need to pass immigration. That is easy in Malaysia or Türkiye, not in the UAE or Singapore without a visa.

To start a search, open the Morocco passport page: every destination there has a flight search link from Casablanca. The Malaysia link searches Kuala Lumpur. The Indonesia link searches Jakarta, so for Bali change the destination to Denpasar (DPS).

Rules can change without notice. Before you book, confirm with the official immigration website or embassy of every country on your route, including the ones where you only change planes.
