Moroccan citizens can apply for a Taiwan visa again. On 12 October 2026, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) announced that its missions abroad accept visa applications from Moroccan nationals again, effective that day. This ends a suspension that started at the end of July 2026.

Moroccans still need a visa for Taiwan. Morocco is not on Taiwan's visa-exempt list or its eVisa list, so you apply through a Taiwan office abroad before you travel.

What happened

  • 23 July 2026: Morocco's embassy in Japan, where Taiwanese travel agencies usually apply for Moroccan visa confirmation letters, stopped reviewing applications from Taiwanese travellers without giving a reason.
  • End of July 2026: Taiwan answered in kind and stopped accepting visa applications from Moroccan nationals. According to Focus Taiwan, only applicants in special projects approved by Taiwan's government were exempt.
  • 21 September 2026: Morocco resumed processing applications from Taiwanese travellers.
  • 12 October 2026: after confirming Morocco's decision, Taiwan resumed accepting visa applications from Moroccans and said it welcomed the move.

How Moroccans apply for a Taiwan visa

  1. Find the right office. Taiwan has no office in Morocco. Morocco is covered by the Taipei Representative Office in France (Paris) and the Taipei Office in Provence (Aix-en-Provence), according to Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs.
  2. Fill in the general visa application form on the Bureau of Consular Affairs website (boca.gov.tw), then submit it with your documents to one of these offices. Ask the office which documents it needs for your trip (tourism, business, family visit or studies).
  3. Don't use the eVisa. Moroccan passports are not on Taiwan's eVisa list, so an online eVisa site cannot issue you a valid visa.
  4. Apply well before your trip. The offices have just reopened Moroccan applications, so expect delays.

Places Moroccans can visit without this paperwork

If you'd rather skip the embassy route, see the full list of visa-free countries for Moroccans in 2026 or the Morocco passport page, which shows every destination with its entry rule. The Taiwan page shows Taiwan's rules for every passport.

Where the rules come from

The dates and the decision come from MOFA's announcement of 12 October 2026, with the background from Focus Taiwan. The offices that cover Morocco and the eVisa list come from Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs. On Wandava, the Morocco passport page shows Taiwan as visa required, which did not change.
